 History

In the 1830’s, Isaac Strickland was the first of his family to settle in Pike County. The area he moved to was known as Hardhead, but was later officially renamed Concord. One of his eldest sons, R.F. Strickland, was a man of great vision and a driven entrepreneur. In Griffin, Georgia, around 1887, he and his brothers developed successful farming and mercantile businesses. This building, built in 1907, was the third building to house the general store, bank, and company offices. This historic business continued for many generations, closing its books for the last time in 1992. Beloved by the citizens and leaders of Concord, the building has been preserved for future generations to enjoy.
