Rooted in the Land, Raised with Intention

At The RF Strickland Co. Mercantile, we love partnering with vendors who care deeply about what they create — and Hakari Homestead  is a beautiful example of that heart and purpose.

Located in Mountville, Georgia, Hakari Homestead is a family-run farm built on the belief that food should be honest, transparent, and deeply connected to the land it comes from. What was once a quiet hunting camp surrounded by towering white oaks and a peaceful pond has become a place of stewardship, regeneration, and intentional living.

Founded in late 2024 by Dr. Charity Lane and her husband Scott Bohnsack, Hakari Homestead grew from a shared desire to slow down, reconnect with their food, and build something meaningful for their family and community. After years spent in fast-paced corporate careers, they felt called to a simpler — yet more impactful — way of life, one rooted in clean food and responsible farming practices.

Farming with Purpose

Hakari Homestead specializes in pasture-raised, ethically cared-for, antibiotic-free chicken, raised outdoors on open grass with fresh air and sunshine. Their birds are regularly rotated to new pasture, allowing them to live naturally while improving soil health through regenerative farming practices.

This slow, hands-on approach isn’t about shortcuts or mass production. It’s about doing things the right way — respecting the land, honoring the animals, and producing food families can trust.

Clean Food You Can Feel Good About

Transparency, stewardship, and quality are at the core of everything Hakari Homestead does. They want customers to know exactly how their food is raised, with nothing hidden and no compromises. The result is chicken that not only tastes better, but also offers peace of mind — knowing it was raised with care, intention, and integrity.

Customer favorites available at the Mercantile include thighs, breast, primal ground, and organs.

More Than a Farm

For Hakari Homestead, this isn’t just a business — it’s their home, their work, and their way of investing in a healthier future. Their mission is simple but powerful: provide clean, trustworthy food to families who care about where their food comes from, while leaving the land better than they found it.

We’re honored to feature Hakari Homestead in the Mercantile and to share their story with our community.
